His value jumps exponentially if one leans into trading as he can produce Moonshine and Medications, which make for valuable trade items, at a discount (Meds even more so, since Med Ingredients is a rare resource).

His Cooked Meals discount is largest with the Crude Stove and without Vegetables, so it's most impactful during the early game.
